That first decision to schedule a consultation can be a tough one. Is this consult worth my time? Will it fit my needs? What can I expect to gain from it? These are very common questions! Here is some information to help you decide whether a consult at our firm is something you might be interested in. The first thing to remember is that every law firm operates differently- no two consults will be the same. This post is to help you decide whether the consultation that our firm offers is something that you may benefit from.

We understand that legal situations regarding your family can be scary and overwhelming. Our job is to guide you through the process and empower you with the knowledge you need to make the best decisions for you and your family. That guidance begins the moment you call our office! We’ll walk you through the different process options available to you and help get you scheduled with the best attorney to fit your needs. Regardless of whether you schedule a consultation for legal advice or mediation, our goals for the consultation remain the same.

  1. The first thing we’ll do is take some time to talk about the situation you’re in right now so that we can understand what led you to call us. This is your chance to give us all the important details and let us know your most urgent concerns and goals. We’re great listeners and we take what you have to say very seriously! You know your situation better than anyone.
  2. Next we will take some time to answer your questions. We encourage all of our prospective clients to keep a notepad close in the days and weeks leading up to your consult. As you think of questions and concerns you can write them down. We also send out an intake form to all of our prospective clients before the consultation, this form can help to guide your preparation and give you space to write down your thoughts.
  3. Third, we will talk about the different avenues available to you to resolve your current situation and achieve your goals. There are often several ways to achieve one goal. Our job is to lay out the pros and cons of these options for you, so that you can make fully informed and well-planned decisions.
  4. Lastly, we will help you select your best “next steps.” This is very important to us! The goal of this consultation is to help you organize your thoughts and empower you with knowledge. We want you to leave our office knowing exactly what you can be doing next to work toward your goals.

Our firm aims to be as transparent and helpful as possible, so we are always happy to discuss our consultations with prospective clients to help them decide whether our firm could be a good fit. If this is something you think you may be interested in, give us a call at the office!
